Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions I'm asked most often. If something isn't covered here, feel free to reach out directly.
If a sexual, emotional, or relational difficulty is causing you distress — whether it's something specific like painful intercourse or low desire, or something harder to name — that's reason enough to consult. You don't need to have it all figured out before reaching out; part of the first sessions is exploring together what's going on and what you need.
Individual therapy is one-on-one and focuses on what you're experiencing personally. Couples therapy involves both partners in the room and focuses on what's happening in the relationship. Some concerns (like infidelity or communication) are usually easier to work through together, while others (like a personal difficulty around body image) are often better explored individually — we can also discuss what format makes sense for your situation.
Sessions are fifty minutes long and typically held weekly. The overall length of a therapy process varies a lot depending on your reason for consulting, your needs, and your goals — some people work through a specific difficulty in a few months, others continue longer.
Individual sessions are $160 and couples sessions are $170, each fifty minutes. Sessions are payable by Interac transfer, cash, or check, and a psychotherapy service receipt is issued at each meeting.
Many insurance plans reimburse psychotherapy/sexotherapy services, but coverage varies by provider and plan. I'd recommend checking directly with your insurer about the reimbursement terms — a receipt is provided after each session for that purpose.
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellation or rescheduling. A $80 fee applies for shorter notice, and a missed session without any notice is billed in full.
Yes. Clinical sexologists are bound by professional secrecy and follow the code of ethics of the Ordre Professionnel des Sexologues du Québec (OPSQ) and the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ). Your personal information is also handled in accordance with Quebec's Law 25 — see the Privacy Policy for details.
Availability changes over time — if a waitlist notice appears on the homepage, it means I'm not currently able to take new clients right away, though you're welcome to be added to the waitlist. Send me an email with your reason for consultation and your availability.
